IB Diploma Programme

“LIVE AS IF YOU WERE TO DIE TOMORROW. LEARN AS IF YOU WERE TO LIVE FOREVER.”

– Mahatma Gandhi

Among the many high school/senior school qualifications around the globe, the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) has earned the distinction over the years of being one of the most challenging and broadest in student focus.

The IGCSE school DP incorporates the best elements of different national systems to expand the horizons of education.

The programme requires the students to study at least one subject from the humanities (social sciences), two languages, an experimental science, mathematics, and the arts.

The course includes an in-depth research component (extended essay), an epistemology course (titled Theory of Knowledge) and creativity, activity and service to the school community and much more that links the subjects together, encouraging students to reflect on their values and recognize those of others.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA PROGRAM

The aim of the IB school at MBIS is to provide all-round development to the students, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially so that when they graduate from school, they are ready for active world citizenship and can face challenges head-on.

Students are required to opt for a total of 6 subjects, out of which 3 should be at a higher level and 3 at the standard level. Aside from that, all students must meet the core requirements to be eligible for the best IB school. This includes the following:

Theory of Knowledge – A course that encourages students to learn more about the nature of knowledge and to critically evaluate the sources through which we obtain knowledge.

Extended Essay – An independent research thesis that students are to write in any one of their six subjects.

CAS – Finally, to develop a sense of compassion and empathy, all students are encouraged to engage in creativity, activity, and service over the two years of IBDP. CAS allows the students to take their learning process outside the classroom and within the community we live in.

Overall, the six subjects and the three core elements allow all the IB school students to develop holistically, ready to make a successful transition into their preferred institution of higher learning whilst at the same time also having been sensitized to the needs of people in the community who may not be as privileged as they are.
