Nursery school admissions time can be stressful and worrisome for parents. How do you find the best schools for your child? Which schools in Mumbai make the cut? What curriculum to choose? What is the school admission process? What documents are required?
We thought we’d make it a bit easier for you by compiling a blog, detailing the nursery admission process at Mainadevi Bajaj International School.
Why Mainadevi Bajaj International School?
A flagship institution of the Rajasthani Sammelan Education Trust (RSET) Mainadevi Bajaj International School (MBIS), is a co-educational international day school affiliated with the Cambridge International Examinations, UK (CAIE) and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), Geneva. It is a boutique school that takes education beyond the classroom and focuses on inquiry-based experiential learning. The school’s ethos is guided by its core values that place every child at the heart of the learning experience, with individual attention and an open door policy. No wonder the happiness quotient of the children is very high. MBIS has completed a decade in offering excellent international education and its students have left their mark on several institutions of higher learning.
Early Years Curriculum for Nursery, Junior KG and Senior KG
MBIS offers the Early Years Programme for Nursery, Junior KG and Senior KG, MBIS aims to promote high quality, balanced education, which allows each student to develop not only their knowledge and skills but also strong moral values.
The Programme is designed around three core subjects: Literacy, Numeracy and Area of Inquiry for Nursery, Junior KG and Senior KG, which aims to promote high quality, balanced education, which allows each student to develop not only their knowledge and skills but also strong moral values. Play and learn is our maxim in pre-primary.
In Literacy, students are taught various language skills along with phonic sounds, which are an important part of development in children. Teaching Numeracy through fun activities and representation or pictures allows children to make connections within the real world and help develop math skills. Inquiry-based learning is an approach to learning that emphasizes the student’s role in the learning process. Each area of inquiry develops children’s communication, thinking, self-management, and social skills. Creativity and curiosity are nurtured at each stage of the programme and the inquiry-based method facilitates this. We encourage learners to enquire and seek, rather than to assume what they should learn.
Our academic programme is also fully supported, integrated and linked with co-curricular activities. Students are exposed to various activities like Art, Music, Yoga, dance, Speech and Drama, Giant wheel and Martial Arts. These activities develop gross motor skills, locomotor movement, non-locomotor movement, rhythm, synchronization, agility, use of space, thinking and conversational skills, confidence, hand-eye coordination and a hands-on experience of the computer at an early age to name a few.
‘Catch them young’ – we believe in this axiom. Practising yoga sharpens concentration and helps in developing the right breathing techniques whereas students learn team spirit, adjustment and fair play during PE periods. The Library develops the important habit of reading and inculcates the love and joy of reading among the students right from a young age.
At MBIS, we strive to provide numerous opportunities for children to explore and learn so that we can nurture their individual needs, interests, and skills. We build a positive emotional environment so that our students gain emotional resilience and learn more efficiently and at higher levels of cognition. The Annual Day Function allows students to showcase their hidden potential, boosts confidence, helps to get rid of stage fright and teaches children the importance of teamwork.
Small class sizes and an inspiring and qualified teaching faculty cater to the needs of each and every child, irrespective of their learning styles and capabilities. The teachers ensure that students get the absolute most out of the learning programme.
The students will achieve through this curriculum the ability to inquire and solve problems, the ability to interact with others to develop strong positive relationships, the ability to understand and use language and the development of fine and gross motor skills. As a teacher there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution, so there is a range of effective teaching strategies used to inspire our classroom practice. The programme leads seamlessly from Early Years Programme through to Cambridge Primary Programme. They also make learning enjoyable and rewarding.
